Offered is a original German wartime award document grouping for a Wehrmacht gefreiter who saw service with Grenadier Regiment 188, which was part of the 68. Infanterie Division. The document and accompanying medal are for the German Wound Badge in Black, which documents the holder of this grouping to have been wounded in October of 1943, while his unit was stationed and fighting in defensive battles along the Dnjepr in occupied Ukraine. The grouping includes the following items:

  • Original wartime issued paper award document for the ‘Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz’ (Wound Badge in Black), complete with handwritten filled out details, ink signature and official unit stamping. Fold lines on the document are present but that award is in solid non brittle condition.

  • Original unmarked wartime issued German wound bdage in black, complete with fastening pin and catch in place on the reverse side. The medal has wear to the finish but again is in solid condition.

Really a neat award grouping for one Wehrmacht soldier fighting on the Eastern Front!
