Photo Album: Terrific Wartime Photo Album of Wehrmacht Unteroffizier KIA by LENINGRAD, Russia in 1943 & Wartime Issued Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross) Award!!!
Being offered is a magnificent wartime German photo album chronicling the wartime experiences of a Wehrmacht unteroffizier who was KIA near LENINGRAD, Russia in 1943! The album itself is a beautiful carved wood cover and backing, with an original German Eiserne Kreuz (Iron Cross, 2. Class) award medal embedded in the front cover - it appears from an empty cut out at one time held an Ostemdaille medal based on the cut out and the accompanying ribbons on the cover (the EKII medal can easily be popped out of the cover and both front and back are in good condition). Additionally, inside the album a portion of the ribbon for the EKII award is attached.
The album is filled with wartime focused photos of this veteran (same face seen throughout), which contains one hundred and ninety (190) wartime photographs. The photos show time spent in occupied France (good deal of time spent in Paris) and then deployment to the Ostfront / Russia. The photos show occupation duties, war at the front, KIA enemy / Russia soldiers, weapons (rilfes, MP40 maschinenpistoles, MG-34 machine guns, a soldier with a scoped sniper rilfe, etc.), KIA soldier graves (incl. this veterans grave), field ktichens, French panzer tank, destruction, frontline positions, officer, etc. Really a comprehensive array of photos. Additionally attached inside the album is a paper newspaper cut out dath notice for this veteran, detailing his name and death in Russia. The album is complete minus the noted spot for the Ostmedaille award, with no photos missing or removed. Really a one-of-a-kind complete photo album!
**Due to the weight of this album (the wooden cover is makes this a heavy piece) there will be a supplemental charge for shipping (you will not be overcharged I just won't know the exact shipping price until I know the destination). Potential buyers from outside the US are asked to message me prior to purchase so that I can provide the shipping costs for consideration.**
