Being offered is a Kriegsmarine sailors wartime issued Wehrpass and pair of letters of correspondence for a sailor who served at a submariner, who died on November 15, 1941, while serving aboard the Type VIIC U-Boat U-583. U-Boat U-583 tragically was lost in freak accident / collision with U-Boat U-153, while operating in the Baltic Sea near DANZIG (Poland). The holder of this Wehrpass was one of the forty-five crewmen (no survivors) that perished in this collision, while assigned to the 5. U. Flotille (5. Unterseebootsflotille).

This very rare Kriegsmarine grouping includes:

  • Wartime issued Wehrpass, complete with all pages. Numerous handwritten and stamped entries throughout this Wehrpass, along with a passphoto pic of the older of this book attached. Many, many details covering the service of this eighteen year old sailor including units assigned, awards and details of his death in 1941.

  • A two page hand written letter dated in September of 1941, from a Kriegsmarine officer detailing the qualifications of the holder of this grouping, complementing him o his attributes, skills and training (written just a month and a half prior to his death).

  • A one page handwritten condolense letter from a Kriegsmarine officer to the father of the holder of this grouping telling of the passing of his son, dated in November of 1941.
